שיר המעלות בשוב יהוה אתשיבת ציון היינו כחלמים
A song of ascents.When GOD restores the fortunes of Zion—we see it as in a dreamawe see it as in a dream Lit. “we are veritable dreamers.”—

אז ימלא שחוק פינו ולשוננו רנה אז יאמרו בגוים הגדיל יהוה לעשות עםאלה
our mouths shall be filled with laughter,our tongues, with songs of joy.Then shall they say among the nations,“GOD has done great things for them!”

הגדיל יהוה לעשות עמנו היינו שמחים
GOD will do great things for usand we shall rejoice.

שובה יהוה אתשביתנו שבותנו כאפיקים בנגב
Restore our fortunes, O ETERNAL One,like watercourses in the Negeb.

הזרעים בדמעה ברנה יקצרו
They who sow in tearsshall reap with songs of joy.

One who goes along weeping,carrying the seed-bag,shall come back with songs of joy,carrying the sheaves.
